I have always wanted to write something like this because I believe it is extremely important to have a personal brand. Remember people do with business with people. People they know like and trust and while if they get to know you, they will most likely like and trust you (of course, you have to be a good person).
So here we go…
- I hope this should be obvious — be a good person – be you.
- Get a social media profile – This includes: getting your domain name i.e www.ryancovino.com, setting up a facebook, linkedin, twitter page, and youtube channel and of course setting up your blog for your domain name.
- Get out there and meet people — what do you do? Do you network? Talk to local businesses? If you are a real estate or mortgage professional, get out there and join your rotary, chamber of commerce or BNI group. Remember everyone you meet so you connect on LinkedIn or Facebook. Also go door knocking to businesses in your area — not for solicitation but to introduce yourself as a local expert in your field. Perhaps help them with their Social Media Profile
- Who doesn’t love a card – After meeting a prospect, colleague, industry friend or local business, send a card! “It was nice to meet you, I really enjoyed learning about your business and how I may be able to help…” Lead with a helping hand.
- Follow up — You think they are going to remember you? They may…but to ensure they do, follow up with them in the coming weeks and months and let them know you have been on the lookout for them — whatever it may be.
These are the basics and of course you can go further. This takes work and if you are up for it, you will be rewarded.
